Colorado Winter Engagement Sessions! Let’s talk about them for a second. Colorado Winters are super unpredictable! I mean we might have some snow on the ground one day and another day the skies and the ground might be super clear. I always tell my couples, just embrace whatever the Colorado weather brings! While the temps in Colorado might be cold for your engagement session I still say as long as it’s safe to be outside do your engagement session even if its a snowy Colorado day! It makes for some unique photos and we capture Colorado in it’s real and raw form!
Now, while you might be worried about what outfit should I wear? Or, will there be snow on the ground? Will my legs be cold during our engagement session? Or wondering what colors should I wear for our engagement session, DO NOT WORRY. I have a whole outfit guide on what to wear for your Colorado engagement session. I have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to the seasons, which will give you great outfit inspo for your engagement session no matter what weather we have!
I am always an advocate for neutral colors! Especially neutral/earthy color tones for your engagement session. Think about nudes/beige/ dark greens/grays/tans I mean anything nude and neutral is GREAT. I also absolutely love layering clothes! This adds texture to your engagement photos. It also allows you to remove some layers to create even different ‘outfits’ within your engagement session! Especially with the ever so changing weather in Colorado, it’s great to layer your clothes in case it gets hot or in case it gets cold.
Adding props to your outfit is also something unique to do! Thinking of wanting to wear a scarf especially during a winter engagement session, DO IT! Or even a beanie to add some extra elements, do that TOO. I promise it’s always great when couples bring multiple outfits to choose from, it makes things so much more fun and gives you a variety of photo options.
Bre decided to wear a dress as her last outfit in her Engagment session. Was it cold? ABSOLUTELY. But I gotta say it made for some super cute engagement photos. Something else to keep in mind is how much movement you’re able to do with the outfits you pick! This is why it’s important to have some variety in your outfits. While a dress adds flow and movement to your photos you might technically be moving around less in comparison to wearing jeans/pants.
At the end of the day when you’re shopping and planning for your Colorado Engagement Session make sure you’re comfortable in what you’re wearing and that it’s truly YOU and if you’re in need of outfit help for your engagement session then reach out to your photographer who perhaps like myself offers an outfit guide for her couples!
